Shopify catalog and AI visibility
138 messy listings became 48 real products, with no broken link
We restructured a live jewelry catalog while the shop kept selling, redirected every old address, and measured whether AI assistants recommend the brand before and after.
138 to 48listings restructured into real products
126old URLs kept alive with redirects
192obsolete listings archived
The situation
Every color of a piece was its own listing, so shoppers saw near-duplicates, search engines saw thin pages, and the shop looked far bigger and messier than it was.
What we built
- Color became a variant option: one product page per piece instead of one per color
- 126 old product addresses redirected, so nothing linked or indexed broke
- 192 obsolete listings archived, search titles and image descriptions written across the catalog
- A full backup first, a draft-first rollout, one canary product watched, and a rollback kept ready throughout
The result
- The whole change ran on a live storefront with money going through it, planned so it could be undone
- In a July 2026 before-and-after test, the brand was returned as a top recommendation in ChatGPT and Gemini for its category. Model answers vary from run to run, so this is one dated measurement, not a promise.
